Listen Quran is an open, non-profit digital gift to the Ummah. We believe sacred Quranic
listening must never be monitored, tracked, monetized, or interrupted by advertising. We do not collect, share,
or monetize any personal information.
1. Zero Personal Information Collected
Listen Quran operates without requiring any user registration, authentication, or account creation.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
- We do not access your contacts, camera, photo gallery, or device files.
- We do not collect or track GPS location data or IP geolocation.
- We do not generate or assign cross-app advertising IDs (IDFA / GAID).
Bottom Line: You can use 100% of the app's features completely anonymously.
2. On-Device Private Local Storage
All user preferences and personal listening data remain stored strictly on your local device within the secure
sandbox allocated by iOS or Android:
- Listening History & Habit Insights: Calculated and saved locally in your device's private
SQLite database.
- Bookmarked & Favourite Reciters: Maintained strictly on your phone.
- Downloaded Offline Audio Files: Kept in your device's local app storage and can be deleted
at any time with a single tap in Settings.
- App Settings & Language: Stored locally in device preferences.
None of this information is ever synchronized to or stored on external cloud databases.
3. Audio Streaming & Network Communications
When you stream or download Quran recitations, the app sends direct HTTPS requests to public, non-profit digital
Islamic audio CDNs:
mp3quran.net (Primary catalogue & recitation CDN)quranicaudio.com (High-fidelity recitations & translations)archive.org (Public domain Islamic audio archives)truemuslims.net (Language translation audio archives)
These requests are standard stateless media fetches required solely to deliver the audio stream to your device
player. No advertising cookies, tracking tokens, or user profiles are transmitted.
4. Zero Third-Party Trackers, Analytics & Ads
Unlike many modern apps, Listen Quran does not integrate any third-party tracking frameworks, user behavior
analytics (e.g. Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Adjust, AppsFlyer), or advertising SDKs (e.g. Google AdMob, Unity
Ads, Meta Audience Network).
We do not track your reading habits, session duration, or user flow across the app.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Family Policy Compliance)
Protecting children's privacy is of paramount importance. Because Listen Quran collects zero personally
identifiable information from any user, it is fully compliant with:
- COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
- GDPR-K (General Data Protection Regulation for minors)
- Google Play Families Policy & Apple Kids Category Guidelines
The app is safe, pure, and appropriate for listeners of all ages.
6. Platform Specifics & Permissions (Android & iOS)
Listen Quran requests only the bare minimum system permissions required to play and download audio on Android
and iOS devices:
Android (Google Play Store):
- INTERNET: Stream public Quran recitations and download audio files.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Keeps audio playback active in
background, lock-screen notification controls, and Android Auto.
- WAKE_LOCK: Prevents CPU sleep while active recitation audio is streaming.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Optional, Android 13+): Local scheduled habit reminders and download
completion alerts. No remote push notifications or marketing alerts.
- Google Play Data Safety: Data Collected: None • Data Shared: None
• Security: All network traffic encrypted in transit via HTTPS.
iOS & iPadOS (Apple App Store):
- UIBackgroundModes (audio): AVAudioSession background audio playback for Lock Screen media
player, Control Center, and Apple CarPlay.
- User Notifications (Optional): Local on-device daily habit reminders. No external push
tokens are registered.
- Sandbox Storage: All downloads and SQLite history remain securely inside the iOS app
sandbox (`NSApplicationSupportDirectory`).
- Apple Privacy Nutrition Label: "Data Not Collected" — Listen Quran does not
collect or track any user data across apps or websites.
7. Data Retention, Control & Deletion
Since we do not store your data on external servers, you have 100% control over your data directly on your
device:
- To delete downloaded audio: Go to Settings → Storage & Downloads → Clear.
- To erase all app data: Clear app storage in your device's System Settings or uninstall the app. All local
databases and cached recitations are immediately destroyed.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy if necessary to reflect new app capabilities or regulatory requirements. Any updates
will be posted on this page with a revised "Effective Date".
